How often should employees and volunteers be screened? [back to ScreenNow]
ChoicePoint® Response
Our standard recommendation is once a year. A more thorough background check usually
is conducted initially and certain "checkups" may be made once a year, depending
on the job or occupation.
For example:
--An employee or volunteer with access to your vehicle might need a yearly motor
vehicle check.
--An employee or volunteer with fiduciary (handling money) responsibilities or access
to sensitive information might need a yearly credit check.
--An employee or volunteer working with children might need a yearly criminal background
check. The national criminal check is recommended, which contains sexual offender
records from multiple states.
